VW Camper Van Cake

I haven't posted for a long time. My life has changed quite a lot since my last post...the main change being that I have a new job which is keeping me very busy! I've been meaning to post pictures of my first attempt at a VW Camper Van for a long time (I made this in Feburary!)

One of the reasons that I haven't posted it sooner is that I wasn't particularly happy with how it turned out. I made my own fondant icing and it was way too soft, hence the lumpy texture. Looking back at it now I think I was a little too hard on myself and I'm now relatively pleased, considering it was my first attempt at a car!

The main thing is that the recipient was absolutely thrilled with it.

Mini Desserts

Mini New York Cheesecakes

Mini Eclairs with Caramel Sauce & Toasted Almonds

Millionaire's Shortbread

I was asked to produce some bite sized cakes for a friend to take into work for their birthday. As it was a special birthday they wanted to push the boat out a little more than usual and hopefully I delivered.

Hitchhiker's Guide Cake

I certainly gave myself a challenge when I decided to try and make a cake that looked like a towel. If you haven't read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy then you may find this idea a little strange, but trust me, it all makes sense! Most importantly the recipient loved it.

Tomboy

One of my favourite cakes has to be Miette's Tomboy cake. The sponge is so moist and rich, and is perfectly matched with the lightness of the vanilla meringue buttercream. This one was for a friends birthday and I think is my best one yet!

Lego Party

I've been dying to try and make some more novelty items, so when I heard that a special little person was having a Lego themed party I was so excited to make a few things. This being my first real attempt at a novelty cake I was nervous to say the least!

A Very Chocolatey 25th!

My friend's fellow teacher has been teaching at the same school for 25 years so I think she certainly deserves a very chocolatey reward. I made 36 cupcakes (all with little handmade flags) to go with the main chocolate cake.
